CHARLES MARTIN "MARTY"DAVIS
Feb. 19, 1962-JULY 16, 1997
FEB

Marty was a 35 year old Episcopalian priest in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At the time of his ordination, he was the youngest priest in the state and the first openly gay priest in the region — a bold and compassionate figure in his community.
On the morning of July 16, 1997, Marty was found murdered in his home. He was discovered on his living room floor.
His case remains unsolved. Despite the passage of time, there has been little movement toward justice.
In 2022, we made it our mission to get Marty’s case reopened. We’ve since met with the (now-disbanded) Hamilton County District Attorney General’s Cold Case Unit, as well as a detective from the Hamilton County Police Department’s cold case division. Unfortunately, at this time, there are no investigators actively assigned to the case.
Over the past few years, we’ve connected with individuals who knew Marty, gathered information from those close to the case, and compiled every article, lead, and source available to us.
Please join us in remembering Marty Davis and keeping his story alive. You can learn more by listening to Episode 57 of The Stabbin Stylist Podcast.
